Summary

Mariager Fjord is a long, narrow fjord with a permanently anoxic basin. The fjord is eutrophic due to the increased nutrient loading during the past 100 years. A shift in species composition has taken place in Mariager Fjord and it is suggested that it is a consequence of nutrient inputs.
